Apparently, as far as M&S is concerned, the finest ingredients include Dried Potatoes, E450 and Emulsifier: E471, and Anti-Caking Agent Calcium Phosphate, E551. Perhaps when they say finest they actually mean the most finely ground – which I would at least applaud of brazen duplicity.
Every journey might begin with a single step but what ‘they’ (whoever ‘they’ may be – I’ve always wondered that. Maybe it’s the makers of fridge magnets) don’t tell you is that the single step is usually the most painful, difficult to take and easiest to put off. My first steps were heavy, weary and cumbersome.
Look. I’m not making excuses, but then it seems so easy to make them. I could have started by training regime last night but there are so many unanswered questions: I’m swimming on August 5th so surely I should hit the pool and see how 30 lengths feels? Or maybe I should just go out and run, that’s probably the quickest way to get fit, isn’t it? I could go cycling – a nice and easy 10k twice around Holme Pierrepont here in Nottingham?
This is NOT a great start. I spent last night drinking, barbecuing and watching England plod out of Euro2012 at the hands of Italy. I managed to consume more burgers, sausages, stakes, coleslaw and white floury buns than the average rugby team picnic.
